Navel Piercing Healing Process

Navel Piercing Healing Instructions

Complete healing time: 6-18 months due to the “mobility” of the area.

(Complete healing: no pain, no discomfort, no discharge, no crust formation)

Piercing Cleaning:

  • Always wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap before touching the piercing.
  • Soak the piercing with saline solution or spray it well with piercing spray.
  • Gently move the jewellery up and down if you feel it “stuck” to the healing tissue that forms.
  • Allow it to air dry on its own.

(Never dry it with a towel)

Repeat 3 times a day for at least 2-3 months.

Then reduce the frequency until complete healing.

 What to watch out for:

  • Personal hygiene is MANDATORY.

(Clean clothes, sheets, towels, etc.)

  • Prefer loose-fitting clothes that do not press on the piercing.

Be very careful not to get the jewellery caught on your clothes when changing, on the towel after bathing, or on bracelets, rings, etc., as hands pass through the area.

  • Do not use antiseptics and disinfectants on the piercing. They will dry it out and irritate it.
  • Do not change the jewellery until it is fully healed. Changing the jewellery too soon can interrupt the healing process and increase the risk of infection.
  • Avoid pools, sea, bubble baths, hot tubs, saunas, and excessive sweating.

(At least for 1 month, then rinse thoroughly with water and wash with saline solution or spray)

  • Do not play with the jewellery and do not rotate it, as this can introduce bacteria and delay the healing process or cause infection. Only touch the piercing when necessary and always with clean hands.
  • Use a sterile adhesive wound dressing to protect the piercing (e.g., when exercising or when going into the sea, etc.) and clean it well immediately after.
  • After showering, rinse the piercing well with water to remove soap residue from the body wash.

Local sensitivity, swelling, and light bleeding are expected in the first few days and will gradually subside.

Signs of infection:

  • Pain, redness, severe swelling that worsens.
  • Discharge of fluids (yellow, green), unpleasant smell.
  • Burning sensation around the piercing area.
  • Fever.

If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical help immediately.
